Education Affiliations
Augusta Medical Center employs some of the finest health care professionals in Virginia. AMC offers several programs to support education at all levels. AMC is a clinical site for clinical education for many different health programs.
Nursing
We are currently a clinical site for the following schools:
- Eastern Mennonite University BSN Program
- James Madison University BSN Program
- University of Virginia BSN Program
- Piedmont Community College ADN Program
- Blue Ridge Community College ADN Program
- Valley Vocational Technical Center LPN Program
We recently developed a Nursing Internship Program that is designed for the novice nurse, the new graduate nurse, for the nurse who has been away from the acute care for some time, or the nurse that has the desire to enter a new specialty area.
This program allows a nurse to develop clinical knowledge and skills within a specialty area that is desired. If you are an outside candidate, you will first spend adequate time in general hospital orientation on the unit. You will continue for an adequate length of time at the discretion of your clinical coordinator. Candidates are hired into a permanent position or will be placed into an interim position until a position opens on the unit desired.
Radiology
AMC is now an official “clinical site” for the Radiologic Technologist Program at RMH. Students can get an Associates Degree through Blue Ridge Community College as well for their two-year study program. They will take most if not all of their didactic classroom course at RMH and split their clinical rotations between RMH and AMC. This is a two year program and the Director is Mr. Jon Lough (540-433-4532). This program is an accredited program by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. Students take course work in Anatomy and Physiology, X-ray Physics, Radiation Safety, and other related classes. Upon successful completion, students sit for the Registry Exam in order to become certified Radiologic Technologists.
