and a partner in a sales and marketing consulting firm. She has served on
numerous boards over the past 20 years and is involved with fundraising for
several local organizations.
Vice President
Lyle Moffett…is the Vice President/Commercial Loan
Officer with Community Bank and has his MBA from James Madison University.
Secretary
Sara Zimmerman…is a licensed professional counselor and has
been working with families for nearly 25 years.
Treasurer
Jean Miller…taught middle school math for 21 years and is an
active hospice volunteer in the areas of administrative and bereavement
services.
Mary Allen…is a single mom, widowed; and a funeral service student at John Tyler CC who works for Reynolds Funeral Service and in bereavement activities for AMC.
George Ballew…has been in mortgage banking for 25 years and is currently a Vice President with BB&T.
Michael Barrett, MD…is a Hospitalist for Augusta Health Care with special expertise in internal medicine.
Elaine Byrd…is a retired psychologist specializing in rehabilitation medicine and is an activist in Alzheimer’s support and care programs.
Beverley Coffman…is a retired elementary school teacher of 33 years and currently a partner with her husband in a business called Shutter Up.
Richard Coleman, MD…is the past medical director of Hospice and Home Health Care and is retired from his nearly 40 year practice in obstetrics and gynecology.
David Henderson, CFP…is president of a wealth management firm, and has been a fee-only financial planner for 22 years. He has served on the boards of a number of local, state and national charitable and professional non-profit organizations.
Dan Matthews…is a Presbyterian minister at a church in Stuarts Draft, Virginia and volunteer Police Chaplain for the Staunton Police Department.
Ruth Molony…became involved with hospice as a young widow nearly 20 years ago and is an active patient volunteer.
Jean Nichols…is a former Stephen Minister of the United Methodist Church and is a retired newspaper writer. She has a half century of involvement with many civic organizations.
Donna Pangburn…is a community volunteer active in hospice patient care, church, and theatre related activities.
Betty Rowe…is a retired Augusta County School System employee and an administrative volunteer for hospice.
Joyce Tipton…is a retired kindergarten teacher and is active in the Presbyterian Church and fundraising for childhood leukemia.
Dan Wachspress, MD…is a family physician in Fort Defiance, Virginia and has worked with hospice over the last 15 years.
Donald Wells…MSW Univ. of Tenn., was an administrator at Mary Baldwin College for 10 years and now owns a senior care services company, “Home Instead”, with his wife Patricia.
The duties of the board include:
- The Board will see that the patient is placed at the center of service, and maintain the dignity and privacy of the patient through the dying process.
- The Board recognizes the needs of the families of the terminally ill and will see that the Hospice provides services determined to be beneficial.
- The Board will promote understanding of the team approach to caring for the patient/family that includes physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and other needs during the final stages of illness, dying and bereavement.
- The Board supports continual improvement of the quality of services provided.
- The Board supports the Hospice staff by providing continuing educational opportunities.
- The Board recognizes the stress that may accompany care of terminally ill patients and provides support for staff and volunteers as needed.
- The Board supports and encourages the role of volunteers and recognizes the contribution of volunteers to the team concept of holistic care.
- The Board plans for disbursement of memorial and other Board funds to carry out these responsibilities.
