Opening of the AMC Nursing Treatment Center
The doors opened on Friday, May 27, 2005 for the brand new AMC Nursing Treatment Center.
Located just off Interstate 64 in Fishersville, on campus at Augusta Medical Center, second floor of the AMC Cancer Center, we are centrally located to serve patients in Augusta County and the cities of Staunton, and Waynesboro as well as offering easy access to neighboring communities in Bath County, Highland County, Rockbridge County, Buena Vista and Lexington.
The Nursing Treatment Center (NTC), formerly known as the Nursing Ambulatory Treatment Unit (NATU), was designed and perfected with every last detail for optimal patient comfort and staff efficiency. There are 10 total patient treatment areas located in the center, a waiting room for family members, and a nursing workstation. The hours of operation are currently 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The unit is staffed with all Registered Nurses who are experienced in the care that is provided in the NTC. Over the last four years, the numbers of treatments and procedures done in the NTC has grown to over 300 each month.
The NTC typically sees patients who have a need for a treatment that is ordered by a physician but do not need to see a physician for the treatment. A Registered Nurse can perform these treatments and procedures. The types of procedures performed in the NTC are listed below but not limited to:
- Blood Transfusions
- IV Fluid Transfusions
- Wound Care
- Migraine Headache Treatment Protocols
- Various Medication Infusions
- Injections
- IV Line flushes
- Enemas
- Catheter Changes
- Cadd Pump Changes
